As I sit and watch so many struggles in the life of God’s people, it causes me to wonder where is God is the midst of all this? What piece of hope are they clinging too. Sickness, poverty, broken and shattered dreams, yet they cling to the one hope that is for sure… God will have the last word and I will give Him praise. "Unbroken Praise", I hear the Lord say… I had to learn this the hard way. Through my Dark Night of the Soul, the Wilderness experience, the Breaking of my will, it was the sacrifice of praise that God wanted to hear. Yes, I trust You Lord, despite what I see and feel.
Funny looking back, I remember God saying, don’t just listen to those songs, you need to sing them. I love music and there are some great artists out there, so why would He want me to sing? An artist can lead you into worship, but they can’t worship for you. God wants to hear your voice as your heart cries out to Him.
Through all the shaking and complaining (this is not fair, how did I get here when I was only following a dream You gave me), I heard God say again you need to sing. I knew I needed to get my praise back. Somehow it had gotten lost through the pain and the shattered dreams I had once held so tightly. I was getting bitter not better. So I chose a song to learn and sing to Him. Ironically after I learned the song, He told me exactly what to sing, “Sacrifice of Praise”. Not what I had chosen, but my will is still being tested.
Three o’clock in the morning, no music, no worship leader to guide me, and my morning voice, I began to sing. Didn’t know all the words, still can’t get them right, but the meaning and the words, “Let my heart reveal all my words fail to say, Lord receive this Sacrifice of Praise”. I sensed that God is please. Something had broken in the heavenlies!!! From that moment, I felt hope, I felt faith and I knew with assurance that God will turn things around and that He would fulfill the promises He’d made me.
